Your monitoring data stays on your Mac

FindDiskKiller performs monitoring, aggregation, and display locally. Process names, file paths, disk serial numbers, and activity history are not uploaded. The app contains no advertising, analytics, telemetry, or third-party tracking SDKs.

Permissions are requested only when needed

• Basic monitoring works without administrator privileges.
• File access tracing asks to install a background component only after you actively start a trace.
• Protected locations may require Full Disk Access. This is separate from administrator approval and is managed in System Settings.

If you cancel a permission request, you can continue using the rest of the app. FindDiskKiller does not repeatedly prompt while you navigate.

Background component boundary

The file-tracing component runs separately from the interface and accepts a fixed set of operations. It starts only for an active tracing session, stops when tracing ends, and does not keep a file-access history after the session is cleared.

Supported versions

The latest release receives active support. Current fixes and compatibility notes are published on the Releases page.
