Restores reliable manual update checks while keeping installation safely coordinated with file tracing.
Improvements
- Allow signed update checks while the trace helper is active, stopping, unavailable, or awaiting approval
- Reduce the bundled Claude cleanup helper's virtual-memory reservation under heavy memory pressure
Fixes
- Stop helper approval and registration states from appearing as an indefinitely pending trace shutdown
- Wait for tracing to stop before installation, then continue the pending install exactly once
- Cancel pending installation cleanly without leaking its trace interlock
Known limitations
- Update discovery can run during tracing, but installation and relaunch still wait until tracing has fully stopped
